This Hisses - Anhedonia Release Party Tonight!

Every once in a while a local band surprises, and This Hisses would be my latest pleasant Winnipeg-bred surprise. Rockin' surfer guitar turns art-damaged and then metallic, drums laying back in a soft shuffle one minute then jumping up and playing standing up the next, garage blues voice launches itself into dramatic gothic vocals and flips upward into operatic soaring. The band's second album, Anhedonia, came out a few days ago, and their release party is tonight at the West End Cultural Centre with Pop Crimes And Slow Dancer.

Whitehorse - The Road to Massey Hall

Whitehorse is playing my town tonight. Even if you can't make it like me, you can still revel in their fine tunes. Quite a while back I tried to convince music lovers like you to help make Luke Doucet a household name, and now I think he is doing it with his wife Melissa McClelland in their duo called Whitehorse. Their newest album, the Fate of the World Depends on This Kiss, was recently released in the States, and the duo's newest EP, The Road to Massey Hall, can be bought at the shows and will be available on iTunes on Febuary 15.
