The Watchmen before the movie, but after the graphic novel
I just received a note from The Watchmen with five new tour dates posted. The quartet is playing the Red River Ex in Winnipeg - the last time I saw them play the Ex was more than a decade ago, maybe 15 years. With no new material since 2001, how many shows can the band do? I have a hard time seeing them going on indefinitely as a classic rock revival, playing on old fans and old tunes. But that’s what Pixies did and Jane’s Addiction is doing right now. How many acts have come back and made good music? Wire, Meat Puppets...I can’t think of anyone else - can you? (The new Pointed Sticks might be tasty…) Still, at least one band member has indicated that there’d be some new music forthcoming. Do you believe it? I don't know, but people still like 'em - look at the video below from last Halloween (sorry about the sound quality, but you see what I mean).

Awesome, I was at this show and I am pretty sure that these guys could have played Mary Had a Little Lamb and the fan base would have loved it. The set list included oldies (but goodies) and newer stuff and some covers - all tightly played. I am eagerly anticipating any new stuff - although I hope there's a splash of the '01 disc(s) in there. Man, I loved those.
Neat blog!
